Summer in Malta – from £223 including BA flights and hotel
British Airways is currently heavily promoting the “last minute” element to its holidays.
In short, BA holidays offers a package price on flights from Gatwick to Malta, and your hotel once here. As BA gets a commission on your hotel booking, it can offer a substantially discounted price on the two combined (as, obviously, it operates the flights – so is not paying a premium for them).
Using the “holiday finder” accessible from this link, we were able to find some pretty impressive deals for summer 2014.

The more flexible you can be, the cheaper your holiday is likely to be. In particular, we suggest you put “any” in the number of days, as sometimes extending or reducing your trip by a day or two can save hundreds.
